Verdict of the....Two Blur Guys

Image
It isn't too hard to find Two Blur Guys as it is surrounded by Japanese restaurants at Level 1 of Orchid Hotel, so unfortunately or fortunately, it stood out. Largely westerners or stranded lunch crowd who has no other places to go will be attracted to this little cafe. Went during lunch time with a friend who just got back from Aussie for the new year. It was totally empty at first but soon after we ordered our food, streams of crowd started entering the tiny restaurant, perhaps coz everywhere else was full. Their menu is really limited in choices but there is definitely something for everyone and i really mean for everyone. Whether you are a vegan or a non-beef eater ( like me), you can have your burger and eat it too! I got the Pulled Pork Burger which the waitress who took our orders recommended, while RJ got the Prime Beef Burger. Beef burgers never goes wrong it seems, all my beef-lover friends seldom ever complained that their beef dish taste horrible. Is it because ...

Supper At Upper Thomson

Image
Only know about Roti Prata House at Upper Thomson but not in a mood for Indian cuisine? Fret not and get ready to make one of the most difficult decisions in your daily life. What to eat??????? Situated at Upper Thomson Estate are some good food which you wouldn't want to miss.  1. Meng Kitchen This non air-conned eating outlet is perpetually filled with people, sometimes you might even have to share a table. What's more?  IT IS OPENED 24 HOURS!!!  They have everything from Bak Chor Mee, Satay Beehoon to snacks like Thai Style Beancurd and Ngoh Hiang. For drinks, go for the aiyu jelly ( or like some calls it iced jelly) drink which is refreshing and thirst quenching. The bak chor mee with an extra dose of vinegar and special chilli sauce is really tasty, also order a bowl of the soup which is rich in flavour. Perfect supper place. Drive and park along the shop house.  Location: 246B Upper Thomson Road Opening Hours: 24 Hours Mee Pok and Kuay...

The Coastal Settlement

Image
Brunch places are getting so common these days. So what does The Coastal Settlement has to offer that is worth visiting? Located 200, Netheravon Road, it is not easily accessible without a car. Luckily we have J to give us a ride there on a warm Saturday afternoon. Parking is valet and limited so i guess we were pretty lucky that day. We were ushered into the restaurant cum cafe by the friendly waiters and waitresses at TCS. I especially like the location of the cafe which is surrounded by greenery and a romantic garden/playground at the backyard. The interior dining area is dimly lit with vintage furniture, giving off a nostalgic atmosphere. We sat at a table which was just nice for the 5 of us, leaving sufficient space for us to move our arms as we tucked into the wide spread of food we ordered for ourselves. First up - the truffle fries was light and remained crispy throughout our meal. I like the fact that it was not too salty and greasy despite the robust truffle taste it h...

Go Green, Eat GreenDot

Image
If you feel that vegetarian food is bland, boring and feels like just eating flour, GreenDot  is here to prove you wrong. Started by co-founders, Fu Yong Hong and Justin Chou, this start up began from a flagship stall in Temasek Polytechnic's Design School and went on to expand to Tanjong Katong Girls' School and finally, a more public appearance at Bedok Mall last November. Want to know what these pair of inspiring brothers has to offer?  Hello handsome GreenDot co-founder and my friends (: I used to work at their flagship stall at TP. I love all the food they serve and even takeaway leftovers home sometimes! The first time i ate GreenDot's food was the bento sets ( see 2nd pic) at my NUS camp and they only do delivery and catering back then. I fell in love with it. And since i do not want to waste food, i had 7 packets of it! ( without the rice of course ) but still a lot right! Huge fan as you can tell by now. Okay enough of stories, let's move on to the food!...

Guide to Taiwan's Best Foods ( Part 1)

Image
Besides Singapore, lots of people also swarm to Taiwan for its irresistible food. Night markets is something not to be missed when you're in this food haven. Need to queue for a papaya milkshake or a black pepper biscuit??? That for sure is a must-eat! Having been to Taipei for the 4th time and Kaoshiung for the 2nd time, i shall share with you guys about some of the amazing food you have to indulge in if you are there for the first time not knowing what to eat. Taipei Top 3 Night Markets 1. Shilin Night Market Go for the Prince Cheese Potato ( 起士 马铃薯) with a variety of toppings. It is located on the left of NET ( a retail store) diagonally across Jiantan MRT Station . We tried this for the first time after walking one huge round and the maze within the night market and realised we did walk past the cheese potato stall and did not notice it! Queue and they will take your orders shortly while you continue to wait patiently for your food. There's some tables inside to a...

Eats @ Jalan Riang

Image
Supposed to have brunch at Wimbly Lu but it seems like the pizzeria next door is telling me to stop by for some irresistible hot-stoned pizzas. La Pizzaiola is located just beside Wimbly Lu ( if you know where this is). About 10 minutes walk from Serangoon MRT station, use Google Map if you do not want to go missing within the maze of private houses. There is not many distinctive shops but luckily we had a guide who went there before. I liked the exterior design of the shophouse where the eateries are located at. It's away from the huzz and buzz of the city centre and gives diners some peace and tranquility. We headed straight into La Pizzaiola and apparently, reservations is highly advisable as it was a Friday and lunch crowd can get really packed. We were given a high table next to the open kitchen concept, so i managed to catch a glimpse of the cooks as they dutifully mould the pizza doughs etc.. Iced water in bottles were placed on our table almost immediately and refille...

Top Eats in Hong Kong

Image
Thinking of what to eat in Hong Kong and do not want to fill your tummies with just any food that comes along? I felt the same, but obviously as a foodie, my main reason for travelling is to eat. You badly want to squeeze in all that you saw on Instagram or Facebook of places to eat but definitely you have to narrow down your choices... Hence, i'm going to share with all of you my 5 days of pig out in Hong Kong and hope you will find it useful! Cha Chan Teng ( Hong Kong Cafes) These are those that sells the traditional Hong Kong-style breakfast, lunch, dinners. And they have everything from macaronis to toasts to egg tarts. I went two of the many others i planned to go. 1. Lan Fong Yuen  Went to the one at Tsim Sha Tsui, Chung King Mansion, 36-44 Nathan Road. Apparently they have many outlets but this just happens to fit our day plan. We had Pineapple buns ( 菠箩油) , macau pork buns, 车仔面,coffee and tea. I personally will not recommend the Bolo Baos here because they turne...
