Eat your way through Tanjong Pagar

Image
Walking down the lanes of Tras Street is an experience.. Some says it feels like a hipster place some says it feels like a Korean town... I say it feels like a cosmopolis with an international array of restaurants and bars.  There's so many options, one will never be able to try every single eatery..from Tras Street to Duxton Road to Telok Ayer Street.. You're going to be spoilt for choice. So this weekend, I decided to do a food trail. Solely concentrating on this area and the places I went were all within walking distances.  First Stop: Drury Lane   This is on Tanjong Pagar road...otherwise known as the Korean street. There's so many Korean restaurants it is kinda overwhelming. I wonder how each of them survive.  Well.. Drury Lane is not Korean but a cafe serving brunch and main dishes as well as a scrumptious spread of pastries.  We got a turkey bacon and mushroom baked eggs, salted egg yolk egg benedicts with crunch prawns as well as the half mozzarella-saut...

What to eat if you have only that many meals in Bangkok

So.. Many people are traveling to Bangkok for cafe hops and here I am, trying out some of the hot favourites. 1. Roast Cafe and Eatery  They recently expanded to the new mall in Emquartier from their original flagship outlet at Thong Lor. Didn't manage to try it the last time round but I made a mark to hit the cafe when we visit Emquartier.  I heard they are famous for their Big Breakfast but since we were there after our hotel's breakfast, we decided to try something else.  Looking for the best fried chicken? Try Roast. It was so well presented and the portion was surprisingly big. One whole chicken and served with a bowl of fresh purple cabbage coleslaw and a bottle of uniquely Roast chilli sauce for dipping. The chicken are well deep fried to perfection. The skin is lightly crispy and the meat is so very tender and moist with a toss of garlic and rosemary for the flavour. Highly recommended for the carnivores.  They also sell several sides on the ala carte of whic...

LeVel33

There are quite a few rooftop bars in Singapore today. Empire, Cook and Brew and Equinox, just to name a few. But my latest find, which has been around for a while, is LeVel33 located on the 33rd story at Marina Bay Financial Centre Tower 1.  Only one lift goes up to the restaurant and lounge and you have to take it from Tower 1 of MBFC. This exclusive lift does not have any buttons as it only goes between level 1 and level 33. As you emerge from the lift, the counter stuff will guide you to a table. Indoors or outdoors that's perfectly up to you. Of course if you prefer al fresco, outdoors has the perfect view for a romantic date for two or catch up with your friends. As you know Singapore is say too hot, the indoor seating is much preferred in the day time.  Their bar snacks are much to die for! Check out their croque monsier bites. I will order this whenever I have a chance because how good it is varies from place to place and at LeVel33, they had surely master the art. Ham...
