People's Park Complex hidden treasures

I know it can be frustrating if you can't make up your mind between the three roasted meat stalls and four other dim sum stalls. They all look the same but you know surely one of those stalls is the famous one which your grandparents and parents grew up eating.  Today, I'd introduce to you one of the best dimsum and roast meats non-restaurant style, together with some new findings in the current People's Park Complex.  It has been a long while since I last wowed at the dimsum before me. The stall only displays a pathetic number of dishes in the glass cabinet as compared to Ho Kee which display a wide myriad of choices. Yet... 道记(Chop Hean Kuan) 's dimsums sells like hot cakes. The price range is not large, cheapest at 90c for items like the ugly looking yet tempting siew mai, egg tarts and 韭菜角, the most expensive item is 2 bucks for the 糯米鸡. Little India Food Trail

Every time i head to Little India or Farrer Park, i will have a headache thinking about what to eat there. Besides Banana Leaf Apollo which is a luxury, or the Komala Vilas because you see them at every corner? Would you have thought Little India could also have some good Chinese hawker cuisine to offer?  JOURNEY STARTS HERE! That day a friend posted on my wall 'South Buona Vista Road Duck Rice Returns' and it just so happens to be located 5 minutes walk from Farrer Park Mrt Station... Not surprising, i expected to see a flock of old and new customers alike after the newspaper feature. But there was no queue! If you have been to the Hup Seng Duck Rice at Sin Ming Road, you will know what i mean. Jimoto-Ya (Singapore)

Sometimes, i wished there isn't so many new restaurants sprouting around our tiny island everyday (pocket is bleeding), but at times, i am exhilarated especially when something like Jimoto-Ya is in town! Thanks to one of Jimoto-Ya's sake supplier who strongly recommended the place, that i had to try it right away. And in a week, there goes 2 meals at Jimoto-Ya. I was there on a weekday afternoon and a weekend night respectively. Both experience were unique on its own yet similar in the right points.  From top: Ebi Shoyu Ramen Set (19 SGD), Curry Rice Set (19 SGD), Ebi Shio Ramen Set (19 SGD) Lunch and dinner menu are the same at the moment with ramen and rice sets taking the limelight. For lunch, i shared the above 3 sets with my 2 girlfriends who were as delighted as me to eat them the second the food was served.
