Huahsi Night Market




Definitely not one of your common markets. That is because- the specialty is snake dishes! There are also snake shows and one is particularly famous and has since appeared on the TV for many times already. We watched it for a while too, he put a rat into a container which contain some slimy, skinny snakes but the snakes did not eat it, does it mean he failed? I don't know..anyway, gugu and mama insisted that i drink a bowl of snake soup by myself as it is very tonic. I drank it, it was very soothing and light. The meat, however, was very hard, I wonder why?
We then had dessert at a very crowded stall. It is famous for their Muahchi and Yam soup. I tried both, of course,i'd never miss any good food. Hehe.. the yam soup was hot but i find the syrup too sweet, i'd much prefer it to be less sweet. The muahchi was very good. 2 huge muahchi sprinkled with finely chopped sweetened peanuts. Yummy, the muahchi was soft and chewy and warm even! That's what i like!
Long shan temple is right beside it, so we went there to pray for good blessings for ourselves and our family.
Huahsi night market is certainly a place for those who wants to try or love snake food. :)

Sounds fun! Been reading the rest of your blog, too, and it's really an engaging read. Can see that you really love your food :D As for the language, it's good, but try reading the other food blogs and adopting the more evocative vocabulary that they use! You've got potential!

I know it can be frustrating if you can't make up your mind between the three roasted meat stalls and four other dim sum stalls. Little India Food Trail

Every time i head to Little India or Farrer Park, i will have a headache thinking about what to eat there. Besides Banana Leaf Apollo which is a luxury, or the Komala Vilas because you see them at every corner? Would you have thought Little India could also have some good Chinese hawker cuisine to offer?  JOURNEY STARTS HERE! That day a friend posted on my wall 'South Buona Vista Road Duck Rice Returns' and it just so happens to be located 5 minutes walk from Farrer Park Mrt Station... Not surprising, i expected to see a flock of old and new customers alike after the newspaper feature. But there was no queue! Tendon Kohaku's 2nd outlet!

Ever since I chanced upon Tendon Hokaku (even though I've read so much about it before that plus all the instagram spams on my wall) at its 1st outlet at Suntec, been missing it. Just that the queue can be quite a pain especially during the peak hours. So there's also peak periods for dining nowadays!  It's opening at Circular Road last week has caused such a hype especially amongst the working crowd in the area. CBD IS HAPPENING TOO!    Quickly, the queue has formed with longer queue times as the days go by. I went on a Wednesday at 1pm and the waiting time was 15 mins, better than I expected. Then on Thursday, it became 40 mins. I'm not sure how long it'll be in the days to come. But if you all agree with me, the perpetual queue is a good sign too!    The cosy outlet has about 6-7 tables and some counter seats so I reckon it can hold up to 20 pax at each time.
